Summary

Even immortality can be filled with tragedy。The plague was just the beginning。 While Jane's impressive powers allowed her to secure her family's safety, new trials on her heart, mind, and soul will begin。 Thrust among the most wicked creatures, Jane will learn more truths about the myths and monsters of her world as well as the extent of the power she holds。 Unfortunately, it is the source of her power that is her darkest rival。 And, this time, Death won't be there to save her or those she loves。 But Jane is far from alone。 While David remains loyal at her side, whispers of Lucifer's presence strengthen。 And one thing is certain about his interest in her; he desires to see her fall。 Perhaps that has been Jane's destiny all along。After all, how else can darkness end if she, the most evil monster of them all, remains?

DNF。 When death left so did my interest in this book。 Honestly though it was SO repetitive I just couldn’t handle it anymore。 I really wanted to like this series after all of the hype I’ve seen about it but I just didn’t。 :(

Loved it。 Gotta read it again

Do you know that feeling when an accident has happened and you can't help but watch the destruction? That's how I felt with this book。 It was such a train wreck, but I kept reading。 Yes, I definitely thought I should just DNF it, but there are very interesting moments that I just couldn't ignore and I wanted to read it all。Writing style: There's just something very addictive about Marie's writing style。 Even when I think it's a cluster fuck of a book, I still can't help but love the writing。Char Do you know that feeling when an accident has happened and you can't help but watch the destruction? Did Marie misplace it? This felt like I was reading a very rough first draft of a untalented writer。。。 She made so many storytelling mistakes。 Half the book could have been cut and it would still all have made sense。 For half of the story it was just David telling Jane how lovely she is and Jane crying but she thinks she's ugly and doesn't deserve his love。 For half of the damned book。。。Content warning: rape, depression, gaslighting, very negative self image, gruesome graphic violence, smutI honestly don't know why I kept reading。 The banter was nice。 The parts in Hell were, well, not nice exactly, but interesting。。。 I am going to read book three, because I'm just way too invested in knowing how it all ends。 I cannot give this book more than 2 stars。 。。。more

Still don’t have a good way of describing what this series is but I really enjoyed the struggles Jane faced in this book and what role her fate plays in all of it。

Sara Nelson

Jane might be a cry baby, but she can be a badass goddess at the same time。。。 I have a hate/love relationship with Luc and my favorite brother are Gareth and Gawain I absolutely adore them。。。 this is a must read if you loved book 1!

The second novel in the Gods and Monsters Trilogy will take you on an emotional rollercoaster。 Be prepared to give it your all and then some, you won’t be disappointed。 There are no other words I can use except dangerously addictive until the end。

I fall more in love with these books as the series goes on。 This is the second instalment of the Gods & Monsters trilogy - as much I loved the first one - this one definitely had more person-ability than the other book。 You explored a lot more of the characters, especially Jane and her husband。 There's nothing I love more than Jane and her boys。Plot: The second instalment of G&M sees Jane torn from what she knows and loves - her knights and her children - to face the darkness。 The darkness withi I fall more in love with these books as the series goes on。 This is the second instalment of the Gods & Monsters trilogy - as much I loved the first one - this one definitely had more person-ability than the other book。 You explored a lot more of the characters, especially Jane and her husband。 There's nothing I love more than Jane and her boys。Plot: The second instalment of G&M sees Jane torn from what she knows and loves - her knights and her children - to face the darkness。 The darkness within her body is slowly taking over and succumbing to Lucifer's taunts which is what he has wanted all along。 With Death out of the picture (for now), it makes it difficult for Jane to deny her darker self the indulgence of Lucifer and his hellish attitude。 Jane fights as hard as see can to keep her children and the people within her kingdom safe - her heart is torn because the sweet, protective David, the loyal (yet disappearing) Death and the destructively lethal Lucifer。As Jane begins to battle between her head and her heart, will see really do what is best for her loved ones or will her darkness take over? That one really made me chuckle。) All the elements are cleverly intertwined - even though the names got a little confusing at times。Summary:This series just gets better and better and I can't wait for the final book of the trilogy。 The balance of action, gore and supernatural romance makes for an amazing story。 I can't wait for the next one。☆☆☆☆/5 。。。more

I was able to stop here。 And I was able to stop because reading this was making me so fucking angry。I don’t quite remember how I came across this series, to be honest。 It was either on Facebook or twitter and I kept seeing it go around and the covers were REALLY pretty and I guess there was enough to interest me, cause I picked up all three books and whatever side novel or whatever there is。 And they ruminated in my kindle library, the way most books do when I look upon them and tell them I’ll read them one day, and on a whim I decided to start reading book one。 Coincidentally, this was shortly after the corona virus became a major problem in my state。 I’ve always had a knack for timing, it seems。Anyway。 I didn’t write a review for book one, but I didn’t like it。 And I liked book two even less, so I’ll review them together。The characters are the easiest target。 I’m saving them for last。The world building is。。。 weird? Some of it I was able to follow along with, but this was such a melting pot of religions and theology and it was all confusing。 And there was the Knights of the Round Table for。。。 some reason。 And they’re all vampires。 Mostly。 Every time something new got added, my first thought was “。。。but why。” And the answer? Don’t know。 I really don’t。 This is such a confusing web we’ve weaved and I。。。 it’s not the worst world building I’ve seen, but it’s nothing impressive。Plot。 I。。。 don’t know what the plot was。 We have an apocalypse happening and Jane gets weird and then gets infected, runs away。。。 is turned into a vampire。 After that, there’s some fighting but there’s really no plot after Jane is turned。 There’s some waffling about being a vampire and being attracted to Death and David and some。。。thing? with Lucifer。 And at the end of book one, her entire family is forced to relocate from their home to the vampire palace in Canada。 Whatever。 Then book two and I。。。 there’s nothing happening。 Jane just cries about liking people, Death is absent for some reason, all of the conflict is contrived and forced, Jane cries some more。。。 there’s nothing really happening, actually。 At all。 And now, characters。 I’m saving Jane for last。None of these characters are compelling to me。 Any woman that isn’t Jane is just a mindless slut for David and/or a threat to Jane and her “relationships”。 They’re all evil。 This series is the epitome of internalized misogyny。 Seriously。 It’s very disappointing。Death is。。。。 um。。。 well, he exists。 Except in book two he just fucks off for some reason。 I didn’t read far enough to really know why aside from “dealing with some threats” and he hangs around Jane a bit the way he used to, except this time he ignores her the entire time when she’s begging for help。 What a compelling love interest。The Knights, too, are not compelling。 Dagonet might’ve been the closest one I got to liking, but he died so he doesn’t count anymore。 Everyone else coddles Jane, tries to push Jane and David together, or serve as punching bags as Jane tries to grow into her new vampire powers。 Despite her constant transgressions, they forgive her with a smile and wave it off cause she’s David’s Other or whatever。Jason isn’t even a believable antagonist/husband or whatever。 Even in sections of his POV (and I don’t understand why we get them), he’s such a straw man of shitty and abusive husbands。 I get the author wants us to hate him so Jane will go to someone else, but this is frankly ridiculous。 I’m not even mad he’s such a shitty person。 No, I’m mad because he’s such a shell of a character。 He only exists to be bad to Jane, to (view spoiler)[rape her (hide spoiler)] right before I stopped reading, to dwell on how much he doesn’t love Jane。。。。 he’s the cartoon villain we laugh at because of how absurd he is。 Except I’m not laughing。David is short of useless。 He spends the first book and a third flirting with Jane, coddling Jane, making threats towards women and other men, being really creepily possessive, being “hot”, monologuing about how perfect Jane is, being really creepily possessive, fighting monsters, being a knight, and did I mention being really creepily possessive? He almost chokes a woman to death because she made fun of Jane。 He almost murdered Jason。 He growls at any man who looks at her wrong and threatens and slutshames any woman - but not Jane! - who wants him。 Because how fucking dare they。 If Jane wasn’t such a shitty character, I would hate him the most。 But alas, I only hate him slightly less than her。And now。。。 Jane。In the beginning, I wanted to feel for her。 She’s in a failing marriage and struggling with two kids when the apocalypse hits。 At first, she was kind of sympathetic。 But then the “plot” gets rolling and I can’t。。。 fathom her。 Let me preface the rest of my thoughts with this: I've been in shitty relationships, I have experienced sexual trauma - and other trauma - and have ptsd (plus an assortment of other mental issues)。 This is not someone peachy keen housewife ragging on a flawed character。 And I really don’t give a fuck what the author’s disclaimer on the first book blurb was。 This was not a realistic character with trauma。 This is a fucking nuisance。 I got to the part where she tries to engage sex with David after having a ptsd meltdown, then got furious。 Furious! Here’s the thing about Jane。 She’s a child in an adult mother’s skin。 She cries at literally everythingAnd her trauma? What trauma, honestly? The most we get is aforementioned meltdown, which comes after a full book and a third of a second! And her dumping information about her trauma in one chapter in book one, for no reason at all。 There were a couple of times she mentioned disliking bathrooms, but otherwise。。。 that was it。 Most of her personality is crying and spiraling into depressive thoughts for the Melodrama and actually? Being a shitty person。 This is a goddamn BRAT, throwing fits because she doesn’t get her way。 She nearly rapes David on numerous occasions and doesn’t receive any real consequences for that。 David forgives her, IMMEDIATELY! This is not a strong female character。 She’s not even a strong character。 She’s annoying, she’s fucking spoiled, and she gets away with so much shit。 I feel sorry for anyone who actually looks up to her。You know what’s even worse? The blurb and the very text go on and on (and on) about how she’s the most awful or evil person to ever exist and she’s just。。。 not。 She’s not。 She’s not evil by a long shot, she’s just a whiny little kid pretending to be an adult and stringing multiple men along。 I really hate this classifier, but she really is a Mary Sue。 She is。 And she barely develops at all in the book and a third I’ve read her in。Anyway like I said I stopped reading this about a third through book two and I’m going to see about getting a refund for at least book three。 This was a pain to read through and some of the worst “romance” and characterization I’ve ever seen。 Maybe I’ll try to stomach reading the spinoff book, but honestly? I doubt it。 。。。more

I cannot stand how Jane is coddled like a 2 year old by everyone! She is a an adult woman with two children! If it weren’t for the level of immaturity of the main character and everyone else’s reactions to her I would’ve finished this book! DNF at 3%!I forced my way through the first book and for the sake of the super interesting world this is set in I picked up the second book。 I now regret even trying!

At parts this book dragged and like the author said Jane cries a lot like a hell of a lot。 I thought I was prepared for it but yeah just warning you she definitely isn't the typical heroine but then again she doesn't annoy me that much as she cries for good reason。 Need the trigger warnings as it gets a little weird with Lancelot but it definitely is a great read。If you didn't know there's the spin off on Wattpad of this series and I seriously prefer Ryder in that then here honestly sorry。 I jus At parts this book dragged and like the author said Jane cries a lot like a hell of a lot。 I thought I was prepared for it but yeah just warning you she definitely isn't the typical heroine but then again she doesn't annoy me that much as she cries for good reason。 Need the trigger warnings as it gets a little weird with Lancelot but it definitely is a great read。If you didn't know there's the spin off on Wattpad of this series and I seriously prefer Ryder in that then here honestly sorry。 I just need David to say another name besides baby but that's just personal preference。 。。。more
